Pethel Builders represents five decades of the highest building reputation in this area.

In 1962, Tom Mebane created TA Mebane, Inc. and began a legacy of building the finest custom homes in Greensboro, North Carolina and surrounding counties.  In 1995, Hunter Pethel joined Mebane assuming the role of owner and president.

For five years, Mebane acted as a mentor transferring the philosophies and practices that created the foundation for the namesake.  "My theory has always been to stick with something you know and what's been proven," Mebane recalls. "I told Hunter we could work together if he was willing to follow the same guidelines. I didn't want anything happening that was going to muddy my name."   Mebane retired from his namesake company in 2000 proudly handing the reigns to Pethel.

For 18 years, TA Mebane, Inc., under Pethel’s leadership, built and renovated some of the finest custom homes in neighborhoods such as Irving Park, New Irving Park, Lake Jeanette, Starmount and The Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point. Pethel has worked with some of the best architects and designers in this area including  Frank Cheney, David Patrick Moses, Larry McRae, Acanthus Architecture, Dan Huckabee, Linda Carr, and Bill Crowder

In 2013, the decision was made to create a new entity, building on the TA Mebane legacy, while combining expertise with local general contractors Tony Collins and Jim Galyon of Collins & Galyon General Contractors, Inc. forming Pethel Builders - A Collins & Galyon Company.

Our philosophy for Pethel Builders continues to be based in 50 years of long standing practices.  Our mission is to provide our clients with an exceptional construction experience culminating with an outstanding finished product of distinctive quality.
